Lawrence House Museum

Special Exhibitions & Events in 2010

Saturday 11 September - Craft Day - marking the start of an exhibition of some of the Museum's collection of craft items, some of them made by children in the 19th and early 20th centuries and by children today.

There will be local people demonstrating patchworking, lace making, smocking, black work, knitting, crochet and other handwork.

This is not only for female family members - knitting was once the preserve of men and handcrafts such as embroidery and patchwork have long been used as rehabilitation therapies for wounded soldiers.

October -
Photographic Exhibition of local people and places from the Museum's archive - Come and help us to identify them
